Service Notes
In a week when “unity” can feel like a noisy gong, Fr. Tom turns to Psalm 133 and Luke 15 (the lost sheep and the lost coin) to ask: What have we lost in our common life—and are we even looking for it? Drawing on Sewanee’s Order of the Gown, the anointing of Aaron, and the image of dew on Mount Hermon, he reminds us that Christ Himself is our unifying center. In the face of polarization and heartbreaking violence, Christians don’t get to opt out: we are commanded to love our enemies, seek the dignity of every person, and join the Good Shepherd in bringing the lost back to the fold. Unity isn’t manufactured by outrage; it is formed in Christ, practiced in mercy, and sustained by love.
