Service Notes
On this Easter Sunday, we reflect on the strange and deadly deficiency that once plagued sailors at sea—scurvy—and how its cure, long known but often forgotten, mirrors a deeper spiritual truth. Just like the sailors of old lacked the vitamin C needed to hold them together, we too suffer from a spiritual deficiency that slowly breaks us down: sin. In this moving and engaging sermon, our preacher weaves together maritime history, the story of Les Misérables, and the message of Christ’s resurrection to remind us of the grace that holds us together—a grace we cannot manufacture ourselves, but which God freely gives.
Join us as we explore how the resurrection is not just a story from long ago, but the cure for a world still groaning under brokenness. Like Jean Valjean discovering new life after a moment of unexpected mercy, we are invited to live differently—not because we must, but because grace has already done the work.
