Reconciler’s Journey at Christ Church

Christ Church is pleased to partner with and host a local Brunswick non-profit, Just Love, in Lent for their program, “Reconciler’s Journey.” This six-week dinner series provides each of us with an opportunity to join in an initiative that promotes understanding, justice, and love within our local community. Reconciliation is at the heart of the Episcopal Church’s mission, “…to restore all people to unity with God and each other in Christ.” (Catechism) Just Love has a vision for “churches, united by the Gospel, work[ing] together to lead God’s reconciliation movement. A movement where deep wounds of racial division and injustice are healed, communities are restored, and cities are transformed by the power of Jesus’ Justice & Love.”

We have invited other congregations, both predominantly white and black congregations, to join us in this journey. This won’t be something that everyone will have an interest in, but we hope everyone will consider participating. The commitment is to attend the full six-week program to provide continuity and allow for relationships and trust to build as the program unfolds. Just Love has offered several sessions of Reconciler’s Journey in the community, but this will be the first one offered on St. Simons.

Through shared meals, biblical and historical insights, and spiritual practices, participants will learn how Jesus' justice and love call us to rise above division and live as reconcilers. This journey invites us to move beyond merely acknowledging division and toward becoming active witnesses of God's reconciling community. Together, we’ll bring healing to a broken world and shape a church that lives out the Gospel in powerful, tangible ways.

Our own Deacon Deb Luginbuhl has also participated in one of the previous sessions and would be happy to field questions as well. Fr. Tom knows many of the people involved with Just Love, and endorses their vision for building relationships in Glynn County that will serve us all well and help us live into our faith more fully.

Reconciler’s Journey will meet in the Christ Church parish hall on Mondays in Lent from 6 pm to 8:00 pm. Dinner will be prepared by our own Wednesday night chefs, Hector Rosano and Gerard Monte. Registration is required, although this is a free program with no cost to participants: REGISTER HERE.
