Sabbath Scene Sm

Given that I’ve been sharing Matthew Sleeth’s teaching on Sabbath with the congregation this month, when I realized that I have done a terrible job keeping Sabbath myself this month, I realized I had to do something about it. June has been a tremendous month in terms of ministry and goings on, and I simply haven’t had time to stop moving since I got back from vacation after Memorial Day.

When I realized it had been that long since I had a “stop day,” and I have another ten days until my next one, I decided to clear my calendar today and take an unplanned Sabbath. I often put fingers to keyboard for ramblings in Wednesdays, which means there won’t be a full rambling today. This is the only parish work I’ll do today.

We will wrap up our Sabbath series this weekend, and I hope you can join us at any of our four services. We’ll be offering some very special music at each service, too.

It’s always good to stop and reflect, and spend time with God.  I’ll see you tomorrow.

Gracious God, support us all the day long, until the shadows lengthen, and the evening comes, and the busy world is hushed, and the fever of life is over, and our work is done. Then in your mercy, grant us a safe lodging, and a holy rest, and peace at the last. Amen.
