Divine Encounter
By Lynn St. Clair

Every day, one welcomes God with thanks. Viewing the intricacies of nature is mesmerizing and a grateful form of thanks. Be quiet and view. Suspend your thoughts. It's midsummer in late afternoon. I'm seated in my garden. The Casablanca lilies are in full bloom. An afternoon breeze carries their scent that's breathtaking in its sweetness and fullness.
My easel is set up and the painting paper is attached - my watercolor paints and brushes are ready to begin sketching these lilies. As I dip my brushes into the pigments, the leaves and lily forms are taking shape.
My mind is immersed with the fullness of nature and its divine influence. I can think of nothing other than the beauty God has created. Time isn't thought about or happening as forms are appearing in color. God's spirit surrounds me in a trance-like form. I'm floating along with my brushes.
Here’s the finished painting of my lilies in the garden. It’s been selected to hang in an exhibit along with a poem depicting the scene.

The Lilly
The modest Rose puts forth a thorn,
The humble Sheep a threat'ning horn,
While the Lily white shall in Love delight,
Nor a thorn nor a threat stain her beauty bright.
~ William Blake
Everyone can color their thoughts as they view a scene. Visualize your brush strokes as a meditation of color thinking.
The resting accomplished is God's release. Just take your crayons and give thanks.
Auguries of Innocence
To see a World in a Grain of Sand,
And a Heaven in a Wild Flower,
Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand,
And Eternity in an hour.
~ William Blake
